Hybrid batteries typically last between 80,000 and 100,000 miles -- that's about 10 years of driving time. If your hybrid battery starts to drain, you will gradually feel that the hybrid car is consuming faster on gas. By the end, when the battery is completely dead, the car will not be able to run.

There are few signs your hybrid battery is dying:

  • Your internal combustion engine starts frequently.

  • Your hybrid battery is difficult to charge.

  • You will hear strange engine noises.

In addition, the dashboard of a hybrid vehicle will generally prompt you that there is a problem with the vehicle's battery.
